Is DIY for you? If you’ve made it this far down the DIY wedding flower rabbit hole then chances are you’re game! Here at BCF (Bloom Culture Flowers) we aim to take out all of the guesswork behind DIY flowers. We do the hard part so you can do the fun part! But just to make sure you know what you’re getting into, here are 10 reasons DIY may be right for you!

1. You want to save save money. Somewhere between 50-60% to be sort of exact. Savings will fluctuate from person to person because wedding wants/needs fluctuate. Some people want extra and some don’t. All are welcome.

2. You have people willing to help. If you have a great tribe (which looks different for everyone) this can be such a fun experience! No one wants to go on an ice cream run alone right? Friends/family just make it fun! Again if you only need some bridal party items and a few arrangements then you don’t need to call in the cavalry.

3. You have hands. Literally, ANYONE can do this. I can’t preach it enough. You don’t have to have been a part of the gifted and talented program in grade school to qualify. If you can hold flowers and use a step above the training scissors YOU ARE GOOD TO GO!

4. You follow instructions. Did we just transport back to the third grade? Ugh. I’ve become THAT teacher. Full disclosure, I never followed instructions and it definitely made a few things harder; I just walk to the beat of my own drum (and apparently like to make things harder for myself). Following instructions just make things run smoother. It’s as simple as that. We will give you ALL of the instructions.

6. You’ve thought, “I can make that!”! I think a lot of people at some point look at something and think, I can totally make that. And I get it. Being a wedding & event florist with almost 15 years experience, I can show you how to “make that”. If this is you, then I think DIY could be a good fit!

7. You’re creative. Or not. Either way the more naturally creative person will flourish just as much as the one who needs to work a bit at it. 8. You want to have a gorgeous wedding without breaking the bank. Seriously, so many people think that flowers are Soooooooo expensive and they are soooooo not worth it but they so are. You don’t have to spend thousands of dollars to make flowers look pretty. We know tried and true simple ways to help your wedding stand out with simple or minimal floral.

9. Nobody puts baby in a corner. Not quite sure where I’m going with that but I always like saying it and it pops into my head a few times a week. I think what I’m trying to say is don’t let anyone tell you what you can or cant do. You know what you are capable of and if you want to do this, you can. We will help.

10. YOU SAVE MONEY! I know it’s not all about the money but it plays a huge roll and we’d be dumb if we didn’t think so. You can save 50-60% but what does this actually mean? So I am a professional florist and know what I charge and what most people charge across the board. I am in no way devaluing what I do but I also know that not everyone can afford or wants to pay for that. And that’s OKAY! You mainly save on labor and overhead. Which is a lot. I mean how many times have you hired a plumber or and electrician and the labor cost was crazy! Time is money and if you are doing it yourself you’re not paying for someone else’s time.
